Q. Are you licensed?
» There is no contractor license for chimney sweeps in the state of Florida; however, our technicians are required to complete rigorous training from the Chimney Safety Institute of America, and actively maintain their status as CSIA-Certified Chimney Sweeps. Our company carries the appropriate license(s) to conduct business.

Q. How long have you been in business?
» Chimney Champions® has been locally owned and operated since 2017.  Our lead technician, Michael Wood (3rd Generation Chimney Sweep) has been CSIA-Certified since 2015.  Michael is also a licensed Home Inspector (FL License #HI9859) and member of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI16062120).

Q. Will you get on the roof to inspect my chimney?
» Yes, our technician will access your roof weather-permitting, as long as the roof is accessible with a 13 foot ladder, there’s no risk of causing damage to the roof, and there’s no risk of harm to our technician. If our technician cannot access your roof, he will inspect your chimney from the edge of the roof with his ladder, plus use binoculars and an aerial drone. However, we can often tell MUCH more about your chimney from inside the attic space, which he will also inspect, if it is accessible.

Q: Do I have to attend the service appointment?
» We do not require than anyone be present for the appointment, as long as we have complete access to the interior of the home (fireplace and attic hatch(es)). However, we want meet you! We encourage you to attend your appointment if at all possible so that you can see the cleaning/inspection process, point out any concerns to your technician, and ask lots of questions. We want you to be comfortable with your home’s chimney system! Our technician will review his findings, point out any issues so you have clarity, and offer maintenance and safety tips (especially if you are buying the home).

Q: What kind of report will I get?
» Your report is customized to your home’s chimney system and includes color photos. If you have us inspect more than one chimney system in your home, you’ll receive a separate report for each chimney system. We will email your report as a PDF document, most often on the same day as your service appointment.

Q. Do you do repair work?
» Our focus is on expert inspections and chimney cleaning/sweeping, although we can also replace your chimney cap and/or chase cover, along with other minor repairs.

Q. Do you do full home inspections?
» No, we specialize in chimneys only, but we recommend HomePro Inspections for your full home inspection needs!

Q. Do you give free estimates?
» Of course! We can give you an exact price for cleaning and inspecting your chimney system over the phone (and/or by email). After performing your full cleaning and inspection (Level 1 or Level 2 service), we’ll be happy to give you a free estimate on those repairs that we are able to perform (typically replacement of chimney caps and chase covers).

Q. Can you come out just to measure my chimney cap/chase cover?
» Measurements are taken only during the course of a Level 1 or Level 2 service.

Q. Can you replace my chimney cap/chase cover without an inspection first?
» The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) recommends that every chimney is fully inspected annually for your safety. When a chimney has known issues or visible damage to an exterior component, there is always additional damage to the interior parts of the system – usually from moisture intrusion. This interior damage may compromise the safe use of the system – but without a proper inspection of your system, there is no way to know.  To repair or replace a damaged/missing chimney cap or chase cover without a complete inspection of your chimney system is not only contrary to CSIA protocol, it should be considered an irresponsible act by a chimney service company. It is for those reasons that we cannot responsibly do a repair without a complete inspection of your system. The position of the CSIA is that a fireplace should NOT be used when known damage exists unless and until a proper inspection and if necessary, repair is made.

Q. Can you give me a ballpark idea of how much a new chimney cap/chase cover might cost?
» If you know the approximate size and style of your cap or chase cover, yes, we can give you an approximate price range. Here’s our only caveat: cost is determined by a blend of precise sizing, material, and style of the item to be ordered, therefore any ballpark price we provide is only a courtesy. Once we gather all the necessary details during your Level 1 or Level 2 service, we may learn something that could change any “ballpark price” we may have provided.

Q. Can you remove birds/bees from my chimney?
» We can remove inactive nests and debris, but we cannot perform any service while you are experiencing live activity. If you suspect you have a live wasp activity, we recommend you contact an exterminator right away. If you suspect live bees/beehive in your chimney, contact us and we can recommend a service to re-locate them (please don’t kill the bees!). If you are experiencing live bird activity inside of your chimney, please click here for important information before taking any further action!

Q. Do you have any coupons or military discounts?
» Please feel free to ask any of our friendly staff members if we have any current promotional discounts to offer at the time of scheduling your appointment.

Q. Can you find my chimney leak?
» We utilize state-of-the-art equipment during the course of our services, including thermal infrared imaging, to help track down the source(s) of any leaking, as well as the scope of any moisture intrusion. We will also provide you with a written report, and suggest any appropriate repairs to help resolve your issues.

Q. Why should I use your company?
» We’re so glad you asked that question! Our focus is your peace of mind, and we work hard to be the most customer-centric chimney service company in all of Northeast Florida. Here are a few things that make us different from our competition:

  • Every Level 1 and Level 2 service comes with an actual written report, and you’ll typically get it the same day of your service (or 24 hours max)

We would be honored to be your Chimney Champions®!
