Chimney Sweeps

3 FAQs About Chimney Sweeps

At Chimney Champions, we get a lot of questions about fireplaces, chimneys, and chimney sweeps. While safety is our number one priority, so is providing additional education and resources. If you have a fireplace in your home, educating yourself on features and safety precautions is essential. Here are the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions we receive as trusted chimney sweeps.

1. What does a chimney sweep do?

A chimney sweep will clean the chimney, remove creosote, and perform an entire inspection of the structure with a camera. The level of inspection depends on your needs and how much you want to know about your chimney. Our trained professionals will then make recommendations on repairs or next steps to keep your home and family safe.

2. Will my house be a mess afterward?

Not when you hire one of our chimney sweeps! Chimney Champions goes to great lengths to ensure that the entire cleaning and inspection process doesn’t get all over your home. We carefully set up drop cloths and use the latest in vacuuming technology to keep your home clean and soot-free.

3. Do I need a chimney inspection with a gas fireplace?

Absolutely! While gas is generally a cleaner fuel and doesn’t produce creosote, it’s still best to have your chimney inspected. A chimney sweep will identify any obstructions, such as bird or animal nests, and any damage that could cause a house fire. You’ll also get a full health report on your chimney and fireplace, giving you peace of mind that it’s safe to use.
